Luana, a pioneering figure in Basel’s hip-hop scene, has significantly influenced Swiss rap and graffiti art since the 1980s. Her journey began in 1983 when she was inspired by films like ‘Wild Style’ and ‘Beat Street,’ leading her to explore various hip-hop elements, including graffiti and rap. By 1987, that was her first performance in the Dynamo in Zurich with MC Leti. Then, she was actively rapping in Biel and participating in early hip-hop events at venues like the Coupole (Chessu, AJZ - autonomes Jugendzentrum). Her dedication to the culture was further solidified through her connections with notable artists such as Lady Pink, Seen, Lee, Crash, Daze, Erni, and Gil during her visits to New York starting in 1989. These experiences enriched her artistic perspective and contributed to the growth of the hip-hop community in Basel.

“Today, Luana continues to inspire through her multifaceted artistry, blending her passion for music and visual arts to engage and uplift the community.”
