Luana is one of Switzerland’s pioneering female voices in Rap, R&B, Soul, Funk, Gospel Rap, and Graffiti Art. Recognized as one of the early trailblazers of Swiss dialect rap, she has helped shape Swiss hip-hop culture through an unmistakable artistic identity that spans music, visual art, youth culture, and creative expression.

Together with Black Tiger and other artists from the Wake Up CD, Luana played an important role in the early development of Swiss dialect rap. Through the drug prevention project and the Wake Up CD, she was one of the initiators who helped establish Swiss dialect rap as a powerful form of musical and cultural expression.

​

Luana was also an initiator of the Jugendkulturfestival Basel, helping create a platform where young people could express themselves through music, art, performance, and contemporary youth culture.

​

Her influence reaches far beyond her own performances. Over the years, Luana has inspired, encouraged, and supported many of Switzerland’s female MCs and female graffiti artists to begin rapping, writing, painting, and developing their own creative voices.

PIONEERING LEGACY & RECOGNITION

Luana was also among the first artists to perform Gospel Rap in Switzerland, expanding the boundaries of what Swiss hip-hop could represent.

Her work has received recognition both in Switzerland and internationally. Her achievements include:

• Nomination for the Holy Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta

• Winner of a music medal at an international competition in Holland

• Recipient of the Composition Prize of the City of Basel

• Pioneer and early initiator of Swiss dialect rap

• Initiator of the Jugendkulturfestival Basel

• Early pioneer of Gospel Rap in Switzerland​

Much of Luana’s artistic development was self-taught, supported along the way by private lessons and years of practical experience as a working artist. After already establishing herself successfully in music, she continued her formal musical development through the PreCollege program at Jazzschool Basel.
